Saturday, June 29 – CASUAL SOUTHERN WISCONSIN RIDE - THIS IS A FUN RIDE!
Drive north to just outside Madison, WI (to Cross Plains about 2 hours from STC) for a 10am ride that offers a little bit of everything! Flat paved roads riding along the scenic Wisconsin River, a few miles of limestone path, a lot of miles of asphalt path (Great Sauk Trail) through the Badger Grasslands, a Merrimac ferry ride across the river (plus an ice cream stop), a few hills (8% grade or so) through farmlands, and a lunch stop. There can also be an optional stop at Wollersheim Winery if the group is interested.
• 10 am RIDE – Rolling from Carrie’s house
o 68 miles / 2500’ elevation (or so) / 14 MPH on average with regrouping
o Ride along Wisconsin River to Sauk City
o Pick up Great Sauk Trail and ride through Badgerlands grasslands
o Cross Wisconsin River in Merrimac by ferry
o Ice Cream!
o Meander back through farmlands with a few hills
o Lunch stop in Roxbury (bring $20)
• Back to house about 5-6pm
• EVENING – Cook out on deck ($10 donation) and patio firepit (optional, would love to have you stay for dinner/drinks!)
